Golden Wedding

Mr JOSEPH ROY MIFSUD and Miss JOAN BUSUTTIL The marriage between ROY and JOAN took place on September 30, 1956, at Sacro Cuor parish church, Sliema. Congratulations and lots of love to dear mum and dad from Mark Anthony, David and his wife Karin and your granddaughters Lisa and Carla. A special blessing from Zija Alice.

Obituary

CARUANA. On September 29, at St Luke's Hospital, PATRICIA née Bond, aged 59, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Furtu, her sons Julian, his wife Romina, Robert and his wife Dorothy, David and his wife Marisa and Anthony; her mother Mary Bond, her uncle Arthur Ivatt, her grandchildren Marija Christina, Andrew Alexander, Matteo and Jean Paul. She will also be greatly missed by her very close friends Vivienne Schembri, Antoinette Gatt, Carmen Zarb, all the staff of Senglea Primary School, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital today at 2 p.m. for Senglea Basilica where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment at Zabbar cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Fondazzjoni Suret il-Bniedem will be greatly appreciated.

Apostolate Of Divine Mercy

Mission Sunday

Mgr. Francis Adeodato Micallef, ocd, Bishop Emeritus, will lead a concelebrated Mass tomorrow at 9 a.m. at the Ursuline chapel, Guardamangia, to introduce the missionary month of October. The Mass, organised by the Pontifical Mission Societies, will be televised on TVM. All friends of the missions are invited to participate. Mission Sunday is celebrated worldwide on October 22.

Prayer To St Jude

O Holy St Jude, apostle and martyr, great in virtue and rich in miracles, near kinsman of Jesus Christ, faithful intercessor of all who invoke you, special patron in time of need, to you I have recourse from the depths of my heart and humbly beg you whom God has given such great power, to come to my assistance. Help me now in my present and urgent need and grant my earnest petition. In return I promise to make your name known and cause you to be invoked. Journalists' Competition

Journalists in the 25 EU member states are invited to submit print or online articles on discrimination or diversity based on the grounds of racial or ethnic origin, religion or belief, age, disability and sexual orientation.

Articles raising awareness on the issue of diversity in employment are particularly welcome, as are articles on young people and the fight against discrimination.

The articles must have been published in 2006 and must have a minimum length of 3,800 characters (including blanks).

Submissions can be made in the 20 official EU languages.

The three EU-wide winners and the winning young journalist will be given a bursary for a research trip to an EU-country of their choice.

In all 25 EU member states national juries comprising journalists and anti-discrimination experts will select the national nominee for the European final and will also propose a possible candidate for the award for young journalists.

The Commission is running a five-year pan-European information campaign on combating discrimination on the grounds of racial or ethnic origin, religion or belief, age, disability and sexual orientation.

Feast Of St Francis

The parish of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, in Sliema, will celebrate the feast of St Francis tomorrow. A procession with the statue of St Francis accompanied by the Sta Venera Scouts band will take place at 10.30 a.m. while at noon there will be the blessing of animals by the parish priest, Fr George Bugeja.

NCW Courses

The National Council of Women will hold two courses in empowerment and computer awareness and ECDL starter courses at its premises in Mountbatten Street, Blata l-Bajda, in October.

The empowerment course will teach critical thinking technique and will aid participants into dealing with activities such as helping children in school work and making better decisions. The course will commence on Thursday, running once a week for six weeks between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. The fee is Lm1.50 per session.

The computer awareness and ECDL starter course will be held at the council's computer lab. Its duration is three hours per session, once a week for 14 weeks. The course fee is Lm20 and covers tuition, handouts and administration.

Siggiewi Sub-Post Office

The Maltapost sub-post office in Siggiewi will be closed with immediate effect.

The public can avail itself of a postal service through the Maltapost mobile unit which will be near the parish church in Siggiewi every Thursday, between 7.45 a.m. and 10 a.m., and every Friday between 7.45 a.m. and 9.15 a.m. or from the Maltapost retail outlets in Sciortino Street, Zebbug or at 207, Victory Street, Qormi.

Stamps may be purchased from Marianne's Bazaar in Il-Ghid Street, Many Things, in Old Church Street, Kevin's Stationery, in Dr N. Zammit Street, Die Ecke, in M. Azzopardi Street, Louis Stationery, in 49, St Nicholas Street and Flower Design, in 46, Brija Road, Siggiewi.

Maltapost has started the process to open another sub-post office in Siggiewi.

Speed Camera

The Malta Transport Authority said the speed camera in St Andrew's Road, Pembroke will be activated on Monday. The legal speed limit along the stretch of the road is 70km an hour.

Carnival Tenders

The National Folklore Commission within the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts is receiving separate sealed tenders at the council's tender box in Casa Gaspe, 230, Republic Street, Valletta.

Tenders for the Malta Carnival programme 2007 booklet will be received up to 10 a.m. on October 25 and tenders for hire and operation of a public address system for the Malta Carnival 2007 enclosure and for the hire and operation of a public address system in St Anne Street, Floriana will be received up to 10 a.m. on November 1.

Traffic Arrangements

A traffic management scheme will be implemented in St Paul's Bay and Burmarrad from Monday.

St Paul's Bay Bypass will be open to vehicular traffic in the direction from Bugibba to Xemxija. Traffic coming from Olympic Grove roundabout southbound will be diverted through Ghajn Tuffieha, Mgarr onto Tal-Qlejja roundabout junction.

Traffic coming from Burmarrad in the direction of Xemxija will be deviated through St Paul's Bay Bypass on the carriageway in the direction to Valletta.

Kellogg's Sponsors Skolasport

A sponsorship for Skolasport was presented by Kellogg's to the Malta Sports Council during the Skolasport Manifestation Day held at the Cottonera Sports Complex.

Kellogg's also announced it has renewed its agreement for the eighth consecutive year to sponsor Skolasport winter activities for another year.
