Two men, who were yesterday charged with the possession of heroin with the intent to sell it, admitted to the simple possession of the drug.
Jon Formosa, 28, of Senglea and Martin Farrugia, 43, of Cospicua pleaded guilty to the possession of heroin for their personal use.
After hearing how both men had a drug addiction problem, Magistrate Joseph Cassar considered their request for bail.
He granted Mr Formosa bail on condition he does not leave his mother's house without court permission.
The magistrate, however, ordered that Mr Farrugia remains in preventive custody since he lived alone.
Police Inspector Norbert Ciappara prosecuted.
Lawyer Joseph Giglio represented Mr Formosa and lawyer Leslie Cuschieri appeared for Mr Farrugia.
