India's Sania Mirza rallied past top seed Martina Hingis 4-6 6-0 6-4 in the second round of the Korea Open yesterday, gaining quick revenge on the former number one for a defeat in Kolkata last week.
After losing the first set in which both players struggled to hold serve, Mirza raised her level of play and was able to push the Swiss world number eight around the court with her powerful groundstrokes.
Hingis beat Mirza in the semi-finals on her way to a Kolkata Open victory on Sunday to go with an Italian Open success earlier this year.
Meanwhile, third seed James Blake of the US breezed through to the final eight of the Thailand Open with a 6-3 6-2 win over Monaco's Benjamin Balleret yesterday.
Former world number one Marat Safin had to battle his way into the next round for a second day running beating Frenchman Julien Benneteau 7-6 6-7 6-2.
Tim Henman took two hours and 16 minutes to get past Alex Bogdanovic in his second all-British tie of the tournament, winning 6-3 5-7 6-1 having seen off teenager Andy Murray in the first round.
