Drugs found at army checkpoints

Two motorists were handed over to the police drug squad after they were stopped by members of the army at vehicle checkpoints in Cospicua over the weekend.

At one of the checkpoints a driver was arrested after a soldier noticed an object being thrown out of the car. The substance, suspected to be cannabis, was passed on to the police for further analysis.

In the second find, cannabis was allegedly found behind the driver's seat of another car.

The police are investigating.
