Oliver raises Lm1,100 for Ir-Razzett

On August 2 our son Oliver Henry, aged ten, who was born with severe deformities on all four limbs, fulfilled his fund-raising promise to Ir-Razzett tal-Hbiberija by swimming 2,000 metres (80 laps) at Ir-Razzett, raising over Lm1,100 single-handedly.

On behalf of Ir-Razzett tal-Hbiberija and our son Oliver, we would like to thank all those who donated money for this cause, especially those who helped collect this fantastic amount. We would like to thank all the media and reporters whose excellent publicity helped make this event a success.

Oliver is back in the UK for yet more operations planned for this and next month. To date, this brave young boy has had 24 operations, including the amputation of one leg below the knee, toe-to-hand transfer, Ilizarov bone lengthening on both legs and many others to rectify problems which are connected with the chromosome translocation.

Oliver's treatment is ongoing and, despite all the traumas of having to go through endless surgery, has time to think about others who are equally in need. To keep this treatment going, we always depend on the kind hearts of those who wish well to help ease the financial burden.

Anyone who wishes to donate towards Oliver's treatment, should contact the Bank of Valletta Zurrieq branch (tel. 2164-9148). Oliver Mangion's Trust Fund Account number is: 17906411029.
