The modern and well-equipped Guzè Damato Boys' Secondary School library in Paola, recently benefited from a donation of books, presented to the school head Joe Cilia Vincenti by assistant head Alfred Ellul Galea, on the latter's retirement from service.
The presentation took place at the library where Mr Ellul Galea, was librarian for nine years. The books covered various subjects and included the four volumes of L-Istorja tat-Trejdunjonimu, which were written by his written by his father.
Mr Cilia Vincenti thanked Mr Galea for his kind gesture and recalled their two-year term (between 1967-1969) as student teachers at St Michael's Training College.
Mr Cilia Vincenti praised Mr Ellul Galea's good work in the educational field and augured him a fruitful retirement.
Also present were school librarians Saviour Ciantar and Jason Florian.
Before undertaking a career in education, Mr Ellul Galea was sub-editor of the now-defunct Il-Berqa, published by Allied Newspapers, where he also did parliamentary reporting.
He also taught Maltese, History and Social Studies and served as assistant head at the Guzè Damato Boys' Secondary School for the past five years.
