Unfortunately this case is still pending despite our continuous efforts, since July 16, to resolve the matter. On August 28 Marie Fenech's niece (Mariella Mifsud) wrote to Rita Borg, managing director, International Sales Direct (ISD). I featured this letter on September 10 in this column. Among other things Ms Mifsud wrote:
Trying to make believe that from your so-called 'investigations', my aunt never phoned ISD to cancel the order is a mistake. If this telephone call was never effected, as you would like to put it, then would ISD have contacted Marie Fenech and delivered the item? ...
My aunt did not look for redress as she believed that ISD would contact her, as the male voice, back in October 2000, had promised. What could my elderly aunt do at that stage? I hope this satisfies your question as to why she waited for six years. The rest is all to your knowledge". (Mariella Mifsud)
On September 12, Ms Mifsud again wrote to Ms Borg and copied me in. Last Monday, I sent Ms Borg a copy of this letter and asked for her comments with a view to featuring both letters in the same column.
I have already referred to Ms Mifsud's second letter last Sunday, to no avail. On my part, to be fair, I am giving Ms Borg the opportunity to have her reply to Ms Mifsud's letter featured in the same column. At this stage if I do not receive Ms Borg's comments by Thursday, I will have no other option but to feature Ms Mifsud's letter without them.
