Logistics and management courses

Support & Supply Management Group Ltd of Hamrun is organising courses in logistics and management between October and December.

Effective Purchasing Management: October 9 and 20. It is time for purchasing to move from the low value transaction, and administrative focus to the high value strategically focused organisation that adds competitive advantage. Bringing competitive advantage means applying the best practices implemented by world class purchasing operations. The best procurement practices covered in this highly motivating seminar provide significant tactical and strategic value to the organisation and strong recognition to the purchasing function and those in it.

Inventory Management and Techniques: November 6-17. An intensive five-day course for those who want to understand and implement the essential tools for managing inventory in the supply chain. Participants are shown how to evaluate procedures and make needed changes to methods to improve customer service while achieving reductions in inventory, eliminate wasteful costs, and avoid internal problems that limit performance and obtain added value for money.

Procurement and Contracts Management: November 20-December 1. The ability to negotiate successfully is one of the most basic of the business person's skill sets. Significant positive or negative impacts are made to every organisation's bottom line, from the results of the negotiations conducted by their employees either with internal or external customers or suppliers.

Therefore, it is essential for the continued success of any organisation that employees are well trained and experienced in the planning, strategies, and conducting of negotiations. This seminar is designed to provide strong competencies in the methods and strategies that will result in successful negotiations with suppliers and contractors.

Warehouse Management: December 4-15. This course is designed for junior and middle managers responsible for warehouse and distribution planning and management. This training programme is designed to give each participant a good foundation understanding of this area of operation and given him/her the opportunity to increase the knowledge or the additional knowledge to contribute to the participant current role.

These courses, which have been designed carefully to meet the industry and business community's requirements, will be organised every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 5.30 and 8.30 p.m.

CILT-UK qualifications

SSM Group is also enrolling students for qualifications in Logistics and Supply Chain Management awarded by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport of the UK (www.ciltuk.org.uk): Certificate in Logistics/Supply Chain Management; Professional Diploma in Logistics/Supply Chain Management; Advance Diploma in Logistics/Supply Chain Management.

This year, SSM Group is launching an M.Sc. in Logistics (a one-year programme) and other M.Sc programmes in areas, such as Masters in Logistics Management; Masters in Customer Service Focus in Logistics; Masters in Supply Chain Management; Masters in Operations Management; Masters is Project Management

These programmes are offered in conjunction with the Technology Innovation Centre at the University of Central England, Birmingham.

SSM Group is also holding a seminar for potential participants on October 25 to provide further information and details about the M.Sc programmes. Mr Dennis Foster, head of the logistics unit at the Technology Innovation Centre, will be coming to Malta to give a lecture and presentation, with Alex Borg, director at SSM Group.
