The inflation rate in August increased to 3.38 per cent from 3.30 per cent in the previous month, the National Statistics Office said.

In August 2005, the rate was 2.74 per cent.

The Retail Prices Index went down by 0.41 per cent. The NSO said the inflation rate remained conditioned by increases in the Retail Price Index registered in the later months of 2005.
