Solange Mifsud, who is in Poland taking part with another 108 contestants in the Miss World beauty contest, has been making the most of her time in that country, Krystyna Maria Mikulanka, honorary consul for Malta in Poland said yesterday.

Speaking to The Times by phone, Ms Mikulanka who has been to various cities in Poland with Ms Mifsud, said one of the visits was to the university of Wroclaw where the beauty queens took part in a debate on how to educate young people.

"Wherever the contestants have been, the locals have shown great interest in them and in the counties they come from. Ms Mifsud is enjoying every minute of the varied and at times hectic programme," said Ms Mikulanka.

The contestants have an extremely busy schedule and they cannot go out on their own at night, Ms Mikulanka added.

The Miss World final will be held in Warsaw next Saturday.
