The recent announcement by the Central Bank regarding the issue of a coin to commemorate Sir Temistokle (Temi) Zammit clearly shows that Malta does not forget its great personalities.

Similar coins had been issued to commemorate Enrico Mizzi (2001), Nicolò Isouard (2002), Sir Adrian Dingli (2003) and Giuseppe Calì (2004).

Only one of these personalities (E. Mizzi) is included in the English e-encyclopaedia (the article is not updated), while the others are missing. There is only a short paragraph about Calì which does not even mention the commemorative medal.

Recently, (September 9) I had written about Wikipedia, the international free web encyclopaedia. Certain Maltese are included, among whom one will find Sir Arturo Mercieca and Antonio Sciortino. But as I have already stated there are many omissions.

There is no mention of the Nani family, Dr Paolo or Maestro Antonio. Neither about the artist Envin Cremona or Sir Ugo Mifsud, just to mention a few. Such omissions are easily ratified. There are no expenses involved in submitting an article for inclusion in Wikipedia.

All one requires is to register free of charge, which is a very simple procedure. Another option is that those who have written biographies about Maltese personalities in "word" format to e-mail them to me on saidfh@netscape.net and I shall format them and submit them for inclusion on their behalf.

There is no limit on the number of articles that can be submitted. It is our duty to ensure Malta will enjoy full coverage.

Once an article is included, this will become public domain. All search engines will trace the said article which will enable any person across the globe to learn about Malta and the Maltese.

Further information can be obtained from http://www.wikipedia.org/.

Let us put Malta on the modern map of e-information.
