The people who flocked to Senglea for the feast of Il-Bambina must have been delighted with the atmosphere reigning in the town during the week of September 8, truly a model of how feasts should be concluded and traditions preserved.
Because, instead of rivalry, there was unity and peace, instead of ribaldry, there was devotion and, what is these days more important, moderation in fireworks.
But the cherry on the cake was the homily of September 4 by Fr Anton Gouder when his emotional and knowledgeable oratory moved most of the congregation to tears.
Well done to all who were involved in the organisation. You have made us Sengleans proud indeed!
