Appreciation Carol Formosa
Catherine A. Galea writes:
The last time some of us saw Carol was at a lunch party to celebrate three September birthdays among old school friends. Carol told us about her life in Italy where she was staying while she waited for her much needed pancreas transplant. She sported a smart haircut and wore her Como silk scarf with style. She mentioned the English lessons she was giving and the history of art lessons she was following - all of which she was enjoying very much - in spite of her battle with major health problems.
As the dessert arrived she cautioned us to go easy on the sugar - diabetes and insulin dependency had left her in no doubt as to life's sweeter options.
The real lasting taste that Carol leaves us with is one of admiration for her optimism to face each new day. A formidable fearlessness of death regarded with the eyes of faith and exemplified by her loving mother was an inspiration to us and ever evident to her close family and friends. May this quality of Carol's continue to be an inspiration to us and of gentle consolation to all who knew and loved her.
On behalf of Sacred Heart school friends
