Around 4,000 students will soon be given a copy of the new edition of the Europa Diary, which informs them about their rights and enables them to make more informed decisions as consumers, the Consumer and Competition Division said.
The diary was created by the European Commission directorate general responsible for consumer protection in collaboration with Generation Europe.
Its object is to ensure that European students enjoy the same consumer rights, wherever they are.
The diary is aimed at EU students but each country is given the opportunity to give it a local touch. The slogan chosen by Malta is The Choice Is Yours, highlighting the fact that consumers have the right of choice but need the correct information to be able to choose what is best for them.
The local edition of the diary is also different from the other European diaries in that it contains a number of consumer-related articles which reflect consumer legislation here, as well as an article in Maltese. Next year's edition will be bilingual.
The Division was responsible for editing and distributing the Europa Diary in schools that ordered it.
