Armstrong wins women's world time trial title

Kristin Armstrong of the United States blitzed her rivals to win the women's time trial world title yesterday. Armstrong's time of 35 minutes and four seconds for the 26.1km course was 25 seconds better than defending champion Karin Thurig of Switzerland.

Armstrong's time of 35 minutes and four seconds for the 26.1km course was 25 seconds better than defending champion Karin Thurig of Switzerland. American Christine Thorburn was third, 30 seconds behind the winner.

The elite men's time trial will be held today. The road racing events will be held on Saturday and Sunday.
