Police investigate alleged theft of fuel from Has Saptan

The police are investigating an alleged theft of fuel from Enemalta's storage depot in Has Saptan.

It is believed the theft was carried out with the use of two privately-owned bowsers.

The amount of fuel involved runs into thousands of liri. It is not yet clear how long the alleged theft has been going on.

The police have arrested five Enemalta employees and the drivers of the two bowsers, who are not on the books of Enemalta, for questioning.

Enemalta has initiated disciplinary procedures against four employees who are in custody. The other employee has been released.
