Tug Malta yesterday launched its new tug boat, Wenzina, named after St Lawrence, the patron saint of Vittoriosa.

The privatisation process of Tug Malta has now been embarked upon and a call for expressions of interest, published earlier this month, closes next Monday.

Government Investments Minister Austin Gatt said that for the company to continue expanding, investment was needed with substantial risk initially.

The government, he said, would rather not take such risks using public funds and wanted to attract private investment instead.

Wenzina was christened by Dr Gatt's wife Marisa.
