Speaking to Jason, a good friend at work, about current energy prices, he asked me what measures I was taking to save energy and thus, more importantly, reduce the amount of my electricity bill.
I had to admit I didn't do much. He told me that a simple and quick solution was to reduce the temperature my water heater is set to.
When you have a shower you take very hot water - try putting the hot tap on full for a moment to see just how hot - and you reduce the temperature of the water by adding some cold. Thus you are over-heating your hot water and then cooling it. It doesn't make much sense!
So make sure you change the setting on your water heater so it heats a little less and you will use less cold water as well and reduce your financial outday.
Such a simple solution for everyone - buy Jason an ice cream when you next see him!
