On Saturday, Marsa and Krishna played the second game of the Victor Miller Memorial Trophy.

Marsa won the toss and elected to bat. Sarfraz Ali and Ronnie Sacco opened the batting and the latter was the first out, being bowled by Kevin Krishna for 23 runs.

Ali went on to make 42 runs. Robert Krishna batted well, again making 48 runs not out while Tony Azzopardi played well for 28 runs.

Mike Caruana also batted admirably for 33 runs not out. Aided with 39 extras, Marsa totalled 218 runs of the allotted 35 overs. For Krishna, Gordon Hewitt was their main wicket taker for the second game running, taking three wickets for a tally of eight wickets in the series.

Krishna's run chase began badly with Joy Ghoseroy being run out through a mix-up. Sunny Krishna batted well and patiently for 10 runs. His brother Sagar made an impressive 34 runs from 34 deliveries faced.

Sam Dhandapani was the last man standing with 33 runs not out. Needing 17 runs from four overs, Krishna were stunned when their in-form batsman John Grima, who made 62 runs, including eight fours, was bowled.

Grima batted well for the second time in the series with shots all over the ground taking his personal tally to 138 runs.

Krishna fell short by 16 runs to give Marsa the win they needed to square the series at one-all with three games remaining.

For Marsa, Caruana was the most effective bowler with four wickets.

Next weekend, Marsa take on touring team Drovers CC from England in a two-game series.
