A new committee for Special Olympics Malta has just been set up.
Anna Calleja has been appointed chairman of Special Olympics Malta, Mario Meli as vice-chairman and coordinator with the athletes' families, Kenneth Vella as general secretary, Desire Bone as treasurer while Angelique Attard will be coordinating the work of the coaches.
Veronica Tabone will be the link of the committee with the athletes' parents and Ishmael Falzon is the athletes' representative.
In its first meeting, the new committee decided to give a new image to Special Olympics Malta by strengthening the training of present athletes, selecting new athletes and by publishing the financial accounts of the committee.
Regular meetings for parents of athletes will also be organised.
The first challenge of the new committee will be participation in the European Youth Games held in Rome between September 30 and October 5.
