Britain's Commonwealth 400 metres women's champion Christine Ohuruogu has been banned for one year after missing three out-of-competition doping tests.

In a statement the UK Athletics independent disciplinary committee which considered the case said it had unanimously concluded that Ohuruogu had committed a doping violation.

"The committee stated that this was a minor unintentional infraction of the regime due only to forgetfulness," the statement said.

"It made clear that there is no suggestion, nor any grounds for suspicion, that the offence may have been deliberate in order to prevent testing."
