Car hire firm in protest over tender

A car hire business yesterday filed a judicial protest in the First Hall of the Civil Court against Swieqi local council over a tender award.

Alpine Rent-A-Car Ltd complained of the manner in which a contract for the supply of hired cars had been awarded to another company.

In its protest the company said that the council had issued a call for the provision of rental commercial vehicles for the council's use.

Alpine Rent-A-Car claimed that its offer had been the cheapest received by the council and that it had satisfied all the tender conditions.

But the council had awarded the tender to En Route Malta instead.

Alpine Rent-A-Car formally protested about the award of this tender and held the council liable in damages.

Lawyer Kris Busietta acted for Alpine Rent-A-Car Ltd.
