Labour Foreign Affairs spokesman Leo Brincat has called for an "urgent debate" on the need for Europe's assistance on the influx of illegal immigrants in the southern part of Europe.

Speaking in the Council of Europe's Political Affairs Committee held in Gaziantep, Turkey, he said the debate should take place during the Council's Parliamentary Assembly due to be held at the beginning of October in Strasbourg.
