Students from the Yorkshire Schools Exploring Society, UK this summer joined the Biological Conservation Research Foundation (Bicref) on land and marine surveys at Ramla Bay.

Bicref said that as a typical and unique habitat, Ramla Bay deserved careful monitoring and management. The organisation is doing this monitoring as a voluntary contribution to local nature conservation and to assist the Gaia Foundation in the management of the bay.

Bicref believes that ecotourism should be encouraged and mass tourism optimised and better handled due to the limited resources and the small size of the islands.
