Passing the buck

I would like to bring to the attention of the authorities the state of the Dun Karm underpass at the Birkirkara bypass. Six weeks have elapsed since there was a fire in the place but nothing has been done to repair the lights and to close up the burnt room.

We, the residents living in the area, cannot use it at certain times of the day due to the darkness it is in, unless we use a torchlight.

We asked the authority to take action and repair the damage on many occasions. It has been reported both by phone and personally. We always get the same answer - that it has already been reported.

They tell us it is Enemalta's job to repair it and Enemalta tells us it is the responsibility of the local council.

When is somebody going to listen to our pleas? The underpass is used by elderly and young people and children.
