Another boatload of illegal immigrants, including a pregnant woman, landed in Malta yesterday.

Yesterday's group was the second in two days: 27 immigrants arrived at Wied Buni, Birzebbuga on Friday morning.

The Armed Forces of Malta yesterday received information that a boat carrying immigrants was spotted just outside Ghar Lapsi.

An AFM aircraft and a patrol craft located the boat which was carrying 27 men and one woman on board.

The AFM's Maritime Squadron vessel P24 rescued the immigrants and proceeded to Wied il-Buni where they were then handed over to the Police for investigations into their identities and nationalities.

There are currently close to 1,400 illegal immigrants at Malta's detention centres.
