St Paul's Islands 'admiral'

For many years we have been able to go to St Paul's Islands and enjoy a swim there with our friends and families.

Alas, this summer, this has no longer been possible as the tiny wharf has been completely taken over by a huge 80 to 90-ft long tourist boat.

The owner of this boat is completely insensitive and arrogant. He orders everybody to move their boats or else. He brags that even an Armed Forces of Malta patrol boat has got to get out of the way if he's around. So what it boils down to, is that a public mooring wharf has become the private, exclusive property of this newly fledged 'admiral'.

We have complained to the Malta Maritime Authority. They were very sympathetic after having received numerous reports about this person. They said that the matter was being "worked on". This was about a month ago. So far no result. Status quo.

So now we are no longer able to visit St Paul's Islands as we are afraid that a serious incident might take place where people might lose their temper and 'things' might happen. People are only human after all.

We earnestly appeal to the MMA to put things right for fairness and peace of mind.
