Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi leaves Malta for Helsinki today where he is expected to take part in the Ecofin summit, which brings together finance ministers from European Union member states.

Tonio Fenech, Parliamentary Secretary within the Finance Ministry, and Central Bank Governor Michael Bonello are accompanying Dr Gonzi.

After the Ecofin summit, Dr Gonzi will take part in the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) that involves leaders from 38 EU and Asian countries.

The summit is expected to discuss the strengthening of economic ties between Europe and Asia.
