Ombudsman calls for consensus on entrenchment Bill

The Ombudsman said he welcomed the draft law aimed at entrenching the Office of the Ombudsman in the Constitution as evidence of the government's commitment to ensure the citizen's right to good governance.

The Ombudsman said he would shortly be publishing his views on the Bill. He invited all political parties and constituted bodies to declare their commitment in principle towards the aim of the Bill and to participate in a fruitful debate that would contribute to a smooth and speedy passage of the Bill in the national interest.
