9,500 ecstasy pills in postal packet

The police yesterday evening found 9,500 ecstasy pills in a postal packet which arrived from the United Kingdom.

Two men, aged over 50, were arrested and are being held by the police for more investigations.

The police said the package contained a mirror in which the pills were concealed. The find followed intensive police investigations over the last days in which personnel from the Customs enforcement section were involved.

Duty Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera was informed of the find and appointed experts to help in the inquiry.

The police said they may be arraigning some persons in the coming days.
