St Martin's Institute of IT is a licensed tertiary teaching institution for the University of London by the Ministry of Education in Malta. The institute offers opportunities for Maltese students and those from other nationalities to read for degrees conferred by the University of London in business, computer science, management, economics and information systems.
St Martin's is a specified teaching institution for the University of London External Programme. The external programme is a unique system by a University which enjoys world recognition. The University of London External Programme, through its network of examination centers, allows its international registered student body to sit for the same examination papers as those students who attend classes at its colleges. This factor ensures that the standard achieved by the international student is undisputable.
A number of teaching institutions worldwide are entrusted with the obligation of supporting the international student community through lecturing, mentoring, tutorials and the offering of the infrastructure necessary for a learning process. St Martin's Institute of IT is one of only four institutions worldwide which achieved the specified status. Student achievement is guaranteed with each examination paper marked by two University of London examiners and moderated by a third. Exams are organised by the Registrar of Examinations of the Ministry of Education for full transparency.
St Martin's Institute of IT, an independent tertiary college set up in 1985, has a track record of excellence with half of its graduates to date attaining a first class honours classification.
The institute today has a student population in excess of 200 reading for a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in business, computing and information systems, economics and management, information systems and management, and management as full time students or studying in the evening.
This attainment has come through a continuous effort by students, faculty, and management. Every year, the success rate in the University of London examinations has never fallen below the 98 per cent, which pass rate was further enhanced with excellent grades being attained by St Martin's students.
