What an embarrassment the feast of St Julians was! It attracts thousands upon thousands of people, many of whom came across such scenes as an exhibition of black rubbish bags with empty bottles strewn all over - a real rubbish tip.

Tourists walking by stopped to have a look at this disgraceful site.

I wondered how anyone could leave that amount of rubbish lying around on a day like that, when there would be so many people visiting the village. Have some people no shame? And did no one see this rubbish before the procession started? It's all wrong.

We shall never learn. I do hope that the councillor who was walking by took note and will do something about it.

It will just add more letters from tourists, in the newspapers, about the dump that is called Malta.

Again I say, we shall never learn. Shame on some of us for doing such a thing. All the work and preaching by the Minister of Tourism and those involved in keeping Malta tidy is all in vain.
