A man has been given a two-year jail term suspended for four years after he admitted to defrauding a man and a company of over Lm800.

Christopher Schembri, 24, of Sliema admitted to defrauding Mobisle Communications Ltd of Lm804 and to defrauding Elton Buhagiar of Lm89.

Magistrate Saviour Demicoli noted that Mr Schembri had cooperated with the police, had filed an early guilty plea and was ready to repay the money obtained through fraud.

The magistrate gave Mr Schembri six months within which to pay up.

Police Inspector Joseph Cordina prosecuted.
