The opposition spokesman for Foreign Affairs Leo Brincat has asked what the Maltese government's contribution was in recent conferences in Stockholm and Sweden held with the aim of helping the peoples of Lebanon and Palestine. Mr Brincat said that while one understood Malta's financial limitations, it was still in the public interest to know at what level Malta attended the meetings and what help it promised, especially considering it had been so keen to forgive the Iraqi debts.

This, Mr Brincat said, was more relevant in view of the Overseas Development Policy issued by the government for consultation a few months ago.
