The final game from the Summer League 2006 at Marsa was played last weekend.
Marsa, who led the standings for most of the championship, only required to collect 125 runs to earn the bonus point they needed, making it impossible for nearest rivals Krishna to reach them at the top.
The omens were on Marsa's side as they won the toss and opted to bat, seeking to take full control of the match.
From their allotted overs, the leaders totalled 137 runs, Ronnie Sacco top-scoring with a fine 36.
John Farrugia made 26 before being bowled and Mark G. Sacco had 21 runs in Marsa's tally. For Krishna, Tony Azzopardi was the main wicket-taker, taking two wickets.
A fine 50 not out by Frank Spiteri and 31 runs from Nadeem Ashraf sealed the fate of the game. Marsa had given up any hope of winning this match until Kevin Krishna took three wickets in four balls which almost shocked Krishna.
However, Sagar Krishna kept his nerve and scored the winning runs for his team. Marsa lost the game but still won the league.
In the other game, Overseas totalled 159 runs from their overs against Melita for whom Joy Ghoseroy took two wickets.
Overseas looked poised to win the game but bad bowling, including 17 wides, did not help them in their cause. The game went to the last ball with Melita needing one run to tie and two to win. Raj managed to get the ball past the infield and scampered through to win the game.
Saturday sees the start of the Victor Miller Memorial Trophy. This five-game series will be played between Marsa and Krishna.
