Cable, digital TV subscriptions down

There was a small drop in subscriptions to cable and digital television in July from the previous month, according to National Statistics Office figures, which showed the subscription index falling by 0.5 per cent.

Subscriptions to all other forms of communication technology increased. The internet subscription index rose by 1.1 per cent and the mobile telephone subscription index by 2.8 per cent.

The number of mobile telephone subscriptions reached 341,417.

Mobile communication traffic included around 40.9 million SMSs, 77,258 MMSs and 9,360 WAPs.

As at the end of July the fixed telephone subscription index was up by 0.2 from the previous month.

The pager subscription index did not change.
