A 23-year-old man was yesterday charged with stealing the bonnet of a car allegedly because his had been damaged in an accident.

Italo Grech, of Floriana, pleaded not guilty to stealing the bonnet from Noel Gatt's Peugeot and damaging the car at the Mitz car park, in Hamrun, on August 25.

Mr Grech was granted bail against a Lm400 deposit and a personal guarantee of Lm600.

Police Inspector Mario Tonna prosecuted.
