Labour MP Silvio Parnis yesterday filed a judicial protest in the First Hall of the Civil Court claiming that his reputation had been damaged by a series of writings about him in the Nationalist Party media.

In the protest, filed against Media Link Communications and journalist Jean Pierre Debono, Mr Parnis said an article written by Mr Debono had been published in Il-Mument on August 20 under the heading Silvio Parnis jaghmel xoghol fi proprjetà li wiret (Silvio Parnis carries out works on property he inherited).

Net Television had, on the same day, also aired so-called "exclusive" footage of works allegedly being carried out by Mr Parnis.

However, Mr Parnis insisted he had only been clearing up a garden and had not carried out any other works.

Moreover, the footage aired on Net TV gave prominence to a villa with which Mr Parnis had no connection.

Mr Parnis said the aim was to damage his reputation and he called upon the company and Mr Debono to regularise their position.

Lawyer John Vassallo acted for Mr Parnis.
