Obituary
AZZOPARDI. On August 27, ANTOINETTE of Sliema and residing at Pembroke, aged 75, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Saviour, her children John, Margaret, Joe and Kenneth, and their spouses, nephews and nieces, grandchildren, other relatives and their families and friends. - R.I.P.
The funeral leaves St Luke's Hospital today at 1.30 p.m. for The Risen Lord church, Pembroke where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m. followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal Providenza will be appreciated.
MULVANEY. On August 27, at Boffa Hospital, MAURICE (ex-7th Royal Horse Artillery, British Army of the Rhine), aged 72, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his great loss his wife Lucy née Pepe, his children and their spouses, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.
The funeral leaves Boffa Hospital, tomorrow at 8 a.m. for Sta Venera parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30 a.m. followed by interment at St George cemetery, Qormi. Lord grant him eternal rest.
SPITERI. On August 27, Chev. JOSEPH F. (tal-Kee Klamps), aged 94, former Bank of Valletta founder director, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Blanche née Ellul, his children Hubert and his wife Mary Doris, Oswald and his wife Ruth, Liliana, Martin and his wife Pauline, Gloria and her husband Umberto, Elizabeth and her husband Paul, Dr Joseph F. Jnr and his wife Carmen, his grandchildren, his sister Nelly, and his sisters-in-law Yvonne and Yolly, other relatives and friends.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later. Donations in his remembrance to Dar tal-Providenza, Siggiewi will be appreciated. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors at home. Lord grant him eternal rest.

Poetry night
PoezijaPlus will hold a night of music, discussions and poetry at Café Deux Des Baronnes, St Ursula Street, Valletta today at 7.30 p.m.
The main aim of the meeting is to bring together people from different cultures and to discuss peace.
The speakers will include Joe Friggieri, Fr Peter Serracino Inglott, Lawrence Attard Bezzina and representatives of various religious communities.
Maltese, Peruvian, Slovakian and Congolese musicians will be performing their own ethnic music.
Everyone is invited to attend and to bring his/her own poetry related to peace.
Lunchtime Concerts
The lunchtime concerts to be held between October 2006 and May 2007, organised by The Malta Council for Culture and the Arts, will take place in the Music Room of St James Cavalier Centre for Creativity, in Valletta, every other Wednesday between 12.35 p.m. and 1.05 p.m.
Those interested in giving performances are asked to write to the Executive Director, Isabelle Gatt, The Malta Council for Culture and the Arts, at 230, Republic Street, Valletta, by e-mail to isabellegatt@maltaculture.com or by calling 2124 5168 ext. 105 to receive an application form.
Applications are to be returned to the office of the council by September 20.
New flight
British Airways will launch a new direct service from Manchester to Salzburg this winter.
From December, there will be four flights a week between Manchester and Salzburg, operated by BA Connect franchise partner GB Airways.
Flights will operate on Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday departing from Salzburg at 11.20 a.m. and returning from Manchester at 7.10 a.m. Over the Christmas period as well as mid-February, a fifth service will be introduced.
Band assignments
The Sliema band will perform under the direction of Ronnie Debattista at Zurrieq tomorrow at 8.30 p.m. on the occasion of the feast of St Catherine.
On Thursday, it leaves for Budapest, Hungary, and Komarno, in Slovakia and will be back on September 6 to perform band marches in Zabbar for the feast of Our Lady of Graces.
Foundation Raises Funds
An event organised by the AX Foundation at the Valletta Waterfront on June 28 in aid of the Dar Tal-Providenza has raised Lm3,500.
The money will go towards the acquisition of physiotherapy equipment for the residents of the Siggiewi residential home. The evening took the form of a Maltese folklore event featuring traditional food, sweets and drinks with entertainment provided by established singers.
The foundation also announced the results of the evening's lottery. The diamond ring was won by ticket-holder no. 1309, Fiorentina Darmenia-Jochimsen of Sliema, while the one week cruise in the Mediterranean for two persons goes to Mary Falzon of Rabat, ticket no. 919.
The timeshare accommodation for two persons in any location was won by Assunta Shwe of Balzan, ticket no. 195, while the one-week accommodation at Palazzo Capua goes to Bernardette Pavia of Attard, ticket no. 1009.
