Skips in Rabat full over the weekend

The Rabat local council said yesterday that skips were left full around the town during the weekend by the outgoing skips company.

The council said that any shabbiness that can be detected in the locality is attributable to this sorry incident.

The council said in a statement that it had an agreement with the outgoing skip service provider running until Saturday, on which day the contractor had to remove his skips while the new contractor had to place his yesterday.

An inspection carried out yesterday showed that while the fresh skips were in place, the old ones had been left behind, full of rubbish, the council claimed.

The old contractor was used on a temporary basis while the selection of a permanent contractor was on.

The council reported that the contractor responsible for the village's landscaping and soft areas is on shut down and will resume work next Friday.
