Two young French students were conditionally discharged yesterday after pleading guilty to a theft from an apartment complex last Friday.

The teenagers, 17 and 18 years old, were given a conditional discharge of three years by Magistrate Miriam Haymen, after she heard that the stolen items, a mobile phone and a lap top, were returned to their owners and that the students had cooperated with the police.

The younger of the two also agreed to pay the owners of the apartment complex for the damage caused to the property during the theft.

Inspectors Mario Sammut and Carmelo Abdilla prosecuted, while lawyers Ian Farrugia and Franco Galea appeared for the accused.
