Bed nights decline in June

A total of 718,037 bed nights were spent in hotels and other accommodation establishments last June, a fall of 4.7 per cent over the same month last year, according to the National Statistics Office.

The average length of stay declined by 0.1 nights to 6.7 nights.

The overall supply of bed-places in Malta alone stood at 37,735, accounting for 95.5 per cent of the national bed-stock, an increase of 3.2 per cent over a year earlier.

On an annual basis the net use of bed-places in the Malta region went down by 5.5 percentage points to 61 per cent. The average length of stay was at 6.8 nights, down by 0.1 nights when compared to the same month a year ago.

In the Gozo and Comino region, the overall net use of bed-places in June was at 56.6 per cent, a decrease of 1.5 percentage points over the same month last year. The average length of stay was 4.7 nights, down by 0.1 nights.
