I refer to Stephen Ganado's letter on works at Xemxija (August 22). It is good for the public to note that the whole Xemxija project, which formed part of the original Bugibba project as from the start, was planned in phases. Phase Two, which forms part of the Xemxija Promenade, was carried out by workers from the Ministry of Resources and Infrastructure who finished their work on time, according to the plan and schedule. May I take the opportunity to thank the Minister for Resources and Infrastructure, the management, as well as the workers who worked so hard to carry out the works according to plan.

This programme started in January 2005 and was disturbed by the natural elements which were, in the said period, some of the worst. Still, the workers did their utmost and finished on time - in very dangerous situations - where apart from stopping in the summer months, traffic, as everyone knows, is so heavy.

We should appreciate the works carried out to embellish Xemxija, as this part of St Paul's Bay has been forgotten for the last 40 years. It is thanks to the St Paul's Bay local council and the Minister for Resources and Infrastructure that a deserved boost has been given to this residential, touristic and summer resort locality. I hope all will follow these examples of how works are scheduled and carried out.

The readers are also to be informed that Phase Three, which is the centre of St Paul's Bay, has commenced this month. This will complete the whole promenade from Qawra to Xemxija.
