A conference on family values is being held by the EDRC (European Documentation and Research Centre) on September 19. It follows the publication of a comprehensive report, entitled 'The Family, Law, Religion and Society in the European Union and Malta' in July.
The report consists of 22 chapters, covering the changing scenario locally and internationally. Those who register for the conference are entitled to an advance copy. The conference will cover the immediate and long-term future of family values in the EU and Malta and the panel will consist of six distinguished speakers.
The workshops will provide a unique opportunity to juxtapose the vision of the expert speakers on trends in the EU, other member states and in Maltese law, practice and culture. This will surely enable the Maltese to chart their way forward.
Those working in the field, thinkers, scholars, NGO experts and officers, decision-makers in the domain and members of civil society in general are all invited to attend.
In view of the recent proposals in the Pre-Budget Document 2007 and other family-friendly measures being undertaken by the government, NCW believes that this conference will further highlight the important role the family plays in Malta and also provide the solutions for the right way forward.
