Twenty swimmers from Russia, Germany, Holland, the UK and Malta will take part in today's Gozo-Malta Open Sea Swimming Challenge organised by Birkirkara St Joseph SC.

This year the club altered the traditional route. The race will start at 8 a.m. from the legendary Gebla tal-Halfa in Gozo, past Comino to finish at the Barcelo Riviera Resort beach in Marfa.

The new route has a distance of 5,500 metres, 600 metres longer than the Hondoq ir-Rummien to Cirkewwa race.
