Foster carers wanted

Agenzija Appogg is looking for foster carers able to offer a family environment to 50 children currently living in institutionalised care.

Appogg offers training and ongoing support to foster carers. Once a child is placed in foster care, Appogg offers a support system both to the fostered child and to the foster carers.

Fostering is divided into different types. There is long-term fostering where children live on a full-time basis with a non-related family; next-of-kin fostering where a number of children live with their relatives; respite fostering, which is offered to families who need to take a break from caring for their child with a disability; intermediate fostering offered to children whose parents are in rehabilitation or are serving a short prison sentence, and specialised foster care which involves caring for children with disabilities and mental health problems.
