The second Valletta Waterfront Epoka Festival was inaugurated by Tourism Minister Francis Zammit Dimech on Wednesday evening.
The festival this year, organised by the Synergix Events Group, is aimed at recreating the 1960s to 1990s period and incorporates classical and folk dance, comical songs, other music, the Maltese traditional festa complete with band and the sale of qubbajt and mqaret.
Shops will be selling traditional Maltese handicrafts and food items including filigree, wicker, woven items, lace, pottery, pickled vegetables, honey delicacies, fruit, wine and ice cream.
Another activity is the knights' banquet complete with drama, food and drink. Throughout the five-day festival, which ends on Sunday, there will be games for the young and the young at heart.
