Liverpool midfielder Momo Sissoko will be out of action for two weeks after injuring his left knee during the Champions League match against Maccabi Haifa.

"Momo had a scan today which showed a tear of the medial ligament in his left knee," Liverpool spokesman Ian Cotton said.

"We do not expect him to be able to play or train for the next two weeks," he told Liverpool's official website.

Sissoko was injured during the second leg of Liverpool's third qualifying tie in Kiev on Tuesday, a 1-1 draw that put the 2005 European champions through to the group stage 3-2 on aggregate.

Sissoko will miss Liverpool's Premier League match to home to West Ham this weekend but could be back for the city derby against Everton at Goodison on September 9.
