Phones banned at Ryder Cup

Spectators at next month's Ryder Cup will be banned from carrying mobile phones and cameras, organisers have said.

Some 40,000 golf fans are expected to attend each day of the 36th Ryder Cup tournament between Europe and the United States at the K Club near Dublin on Sept. 22-24, amid tight competition restrictions and even tighter security.

Organisers said cameras would be permitted on practice days - Sept. 19-21 - but not on match days.
