Worker critical after fall

A 34-year-old construction worker from Birzebbuga, Dominic Abela, is in critical condition after falling off a tower crane yesterday morning.

The police said the accident occurred at 10.15 a.m. when the man was carrying out work in Qrendi. He was inside a container used to transport concrete and which was being held up by a tower crane when he fell off, sustaining serious injuries. He was taken to St Luke's Hospital.

Duty Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera has opened an inquiry.

Police investigations are ongoing.

The Health and Safety Authority was informed about the case.
